- The potential of Indonesia's largest coal in South Sumatra, especially in Tanjung Enim, District Lawang Kidul. This study has two objectives, namely to determine the socio-economic impact for the community associated with coal mining in the District Lawang Kidul and knowing relationship with the public perception of the existence of coal mining on social, economic around coal mining. Research methods and sampling techniques with Slovin formula is the head of the family's total of 100 respondents through validity and reliability. Significance level α, or a margin of error of 10% means 90% accuracy rate. test analysis techniques using Excel and SPSS with the selection of test results using statistical techniques form the associative hypothesis using kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient of 0,529, where a significant level of 10%, and N = 100 is 0.195. Price coefficient calculation result is greater than the price correlation in the table (0.05 <0.195> 0.000) .0,000 which Nonparametric,Correlation. Results of analysis showed a significant relationship between the public perception of the existence of coal mining activities on the socio-economic conditions around the coal mining in the District Lawang Kidul. Where the null hypothesis (Ho) means there is no relationship between the public perception of coal mining dengankeberadaan on socio-economic conditions of society whereas the alternative hypothesis (H1) means that there is a positive and significant relationship between the public perception of the existence of coal mining activities in the socio-economic conditions around the mining of coal in Subdistrict Lawang Kidul.
