- Background Depression is a major contributor to the financing of health in the elderly population , and is projected to be a major cause of disease burden in the elderly population in 2020 . Prevalence of depression in patients aged 65 years may be as high as 40 % in patients treated in hospitals and nursing homes , as well as 8-15 % at the community level . In research Salimi et al. (2008), found a decrease in serum albumin and total protein were significantly in depressed patients when compared to controls. Latihan Pasrah Diri , which is one method in mind and body therapy is expected to improve the symptoms of stress or depression symptoms Objective: To determine the effect of LPD on albumin levels in elderly patients with symptoms of depression . Method. The study design was quasi-experimental. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling . The study subjects were elderly in the district of Klaten, Central Java Province who visited Healthcare unit who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. LPD influence on levels of albumin in the elderly assessed statistically by the independent t test , and if the distribution is not normal then it will be done the Mann Whitney test . Differences were considered significant if the obtained P< 0.05 with 95% confidence intervals . Result. On analysis, we found that the difference of mean level of albumin on treatment group (-0,095 ± 0,022) compared with control group (-0,020 ± 0,022) is statistically unsignificant, with p = 0.272 (p > 0,05). . Conclusion. LPD doesnt have effect on albumin level in elderly with depression symptoms
