  • Dermatophytosis is an infectious skin disease caused by dermatophyte fungi. The clinical diagnosis of dermatophytosis is difficult to determine because the clinical symptoms of dermatitis varies and dermatophytosis cases are often followed by bacterial colonization as its components. This study aimed to isolation and identification of Staphylococcus intermedius and Staphylococcus epidermidis from dog dermatophytosis patients before and after treated with griseofulvin. A total of 21 skin swab samples collected from three dogs (A, B, C) in three periods, before infection Microporum canis, during of infection Microsporum canis and during of treatment with griseofulvin. The samples would be collected day 4, 10, 14 in the periods of during infection and day 7, 14, 21 in the periods of during treatment. Identification of bacteria carried by culture skin swab samples on mannitol salt agar (MSA), and then examined by Gram stain, catalase test, tube coagulase and Voges Poskauer (VP) test. The observation ofclinicallesionsfromdogs suffered dermatophytosis wereerythema, scales, crusts, circular alopecia, andhyperpigmentation. Identification of bacteria on all sample before infection M. canis, during of infection M. canis and during of treatment by griseofulvin could be isolated S. intermedius. Meanwhile S. epidermidis could only be found sample in A after infection M. canis and all sample during of treatment by griseofulvin. Based on the result concluded that S. intermedius can isolated from dog that infected in M. canis and post-treatment by griseofulvin, meanwhile S. epidermidis cannot be found at dog that during infected M. canis, but its existance incerased in the during of treatment periods.
