reached 34.7%. Smoking behavior is a risk factor of chronic diseases such as cancer,
lung and cardiovascular. Based on the analysis conducted throughout Yogyakarta
Hospital in the last three years shows heart disease and stroke is the highest cause
of death in Yogyakarta. Knowledge is an important element in building personal
behaviours. Thus it is necessary to assess personal knowledge about smoking that
could help to design effective intervention programs to solve the problem of
smoking.
Objective : This study aims to measure community�s knowledge, especially in teen,
adult women, adult men and public figures about smoking in Dusun Pogung
Dalangan.
Method : This research is descriptive quantitative that was equipped with
qualitative data from in-depth interviews as additional data. From the 103 samples
there were 36 adult men, 36 adult women, 24 teenager and 7 public figures.
Sampling was stratified with sampling technique. Data were obtained by knowledge
questionnaire and in depth-interview�s guideline. Data analyzed by using uji Chisquare.
Result : A total of 70 (68%) of respondents have a good level of knowledge about
smoking. In addiction teen, adult women, adult men and public figures also have a
good level of knowledge there were teen by 14 (58.3%), adult women by 27 (75%),
adult male were 26 (72.2%) and public figures 3 (42.9%). There is a significant
association between cigarette information with level of knowledge
Conclusion : Dusun Pogung Dalangan�s community consisting of teens, adult
women, adult men and public figures have a good level of knowledge about
