- District-Based Marine Protected Area, Olele beach located in Tomini bay. Tomini bay well known by high coral biodiversity in the Coral Triangle. However, a research related to its coral reef biodiversity in Olele beach has never been conducted before. This research aims to study the diversity, distribution and abundance of Scleractinian Coral in Olele beach and determines the health condition of coral reef ecosystems as a basic reference for conservation management. This study was conducted using Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method on 3 research stations. Each station was divided into 3 main zonations, these are: reef flat (3 m depth), upper reef slope (10 m depth), and reef slope (18 20 m depth). Fifty meters long transect were laid in each zonation, thus total transect are 9. The results showed that there are 35 species of Scleractinian coral from 12 families. Upper reef slope zonation had the highest number of species (15-21 species), diversity index (2.98 to 3.31), and coverage (66.36 to 77.09 %). Each zonation was dominated by different life form and species. In the reef flat, life form which abundant is branching coral and P. damicornis, S. hystrix and A. palifera were abundant species. In the upper reef slope, massive coral was abundant life form and G. fascicularis and P. cactus were abundant species. In the reef slope area, foliose coral was abundant life form and P. speciosa and E. lamellosa were abundant species. Base on health condition evaluation, coral reef ecosystems in Local Marine Conservation Area, Olele are in healthy condition with a range of values from 2.07 to 5.55.
