- One of the problems in cultivation of shallot (Allium cepa L. Aggregatum Group) is bulb dormancy. The bulb dormancy takes aime four to nine weeks. The aims of this research was to study the effects of drying time and storage temperature to dormancy period of shallot bulb. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Technology and Greenhouse of Agriculture Faculty, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta from May to October 2013. The research was designed in 3x2 factorial treatments and arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications. The first factor was drying time under solar energy consisted of three levels i.e. 0 day, 7 days, and 14 days. The second factor was storage temperature consisted of two levels i.e. 30°C and 20°C. The results showed that 14 days long of drying combined with 20°C storage temperature was able to break bulb dormancy fastest in 49 days. Without drying combined 20°C storage temperature or 14 days long of drying combined 30°C storage temperature could break bulb dormancy of shallot in 53 days.
