  • Rapid Cityâ��s development with population increased force a city to require a new land for settlements. One of techniques that recently used to obtain the spatial data is remote sensing. The purposes of the research are 1) Determine the residential fire vulnerable area in Balikpapan Selatan, 2) Mapping residential fire vulnerability zoning level based on physic condition factors of its building and fire disaster management factors. The methods used in this research is quantitative approach with weighted overlay which is applied with remote sensing that integrated with GIS, then to support the accuracy of data is using Stratified Random Sampling. The result that obtained is a map of residential fire vulnerability zoning level, where the zoning are divided into 3 classes
