  • This study used the sakeâ��s lexemes that contained in the Japanese proverb sentence that included in Koji Kotowaza Shinjiten (Sankou Shuppan, 1994) as data. This studies aims is to describe syntactic structure of sake's lexemes in Japanese proverb sentence. Other than that, this study aims is also to explain the meaning of the content owned by sake's lexemes in Japanese Proverb sentences. This study use syntactic structure and semantic meaning methods while looking at the culture of the Japanese people. The syntactic structure methodwas used to determine syntactic role, syntactic function, and syntactic category of sake lexemes in Japanese proverbs sentence. The semantic meaning method was used to determine life value of sake lexeme in Japanese proverb sentence. An understanding of the Japanese culture was used as the basis to evaluate themeaning of sakeâ��slexeme in Japanese proverb sentence. The results showed that from the perspective of the syntactic function, sakeâ��s lexemes in Japanese proverb sentence can occupy five syntactic functions that is the subject, object, modifier, description, and also predicate. From the perspective of syntactic role, sakeâ��slexemes in Japanese proverb sentences have syntactic role as a patient, quantified, identifier, known, experiences, circumstances, instruments, causes, perpetrators of acts, and place information. From the perspective of syntactic categories,sakeâ��slexemes are included into concrete nouns and plural nouns.
