- Translation is the transfer of message from the source language into the target language. This transfer process is influenced by the culture of the source language and the target language, where the language, as part of the culture, influences the mindset of its speakers. The mindset is an interesting case to study. The French literary texts (as a source language) and Indonesian translation of literary texts (as a target language) can be the object sample of analyzing the different mindset of French and Indonesian. This mindset study reveals the differences found through the analysis of the structure of information in discourse of both languages, and it is found that the background is an important matter on the discourse. Based on the classification, structure of information includes status information (old information and new information) and urgency of information (information important and less important). In the end, the analysis not only shows that there are differences, but also similarities from both languages, patterns of status information and also urgency of information from a certain patterns of sentence, as well as in the analysis of grounding. By noticing the grounding and focusing more on the differences, it is found that France uses tenses strategy, whereas Indonesian language uses diathesis.
