- Background: Nurses are the biggest and important asset belongs to the hospital because their role as the hospital driver which interaction with patients and their family for 24 hours. Indeed, the nurses role is a strategic frontliner of the hospital. High quality service only can be given by the nurses who have strong engagement with their work and hospital. Nurses engagement connected with the job characteristics, reward-recogniti on, organizational support dan supervisor support. Objective: To measure the relationship between job characteristics, rewardrecognition, organizational support and the supervisor support toward nurses engagement at the hospital in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Method: This research used an observational study with cross sectional design. The samples were 188 nurses. The research instrument was questionnaire. Sampling method with simple random sampling technique, data was analysed by simple linear regression and the multivariate regression. Result and discussion: This study showed a significant relationship between job characteristics and the nurses engagement (p value < 0.05, R = 0.477). There was a positive significant relationship between the hospital support and the nurses engagement (p value < 0.05, R = 0.301). Furthermore there was a weak positive relationship between supervisor support and nurses engagement (P value < 0.05, R = 0.193), and a positive significant relationship between reward-recognition and nurses engagement (p value < 0.05, R = 0.228). The strongest contributed factor to the nurses engagement was the job characteristics (beta-coefficient standard = 0.424). Conclusion and recommendation: The increase value of job characteristics, hospital support, supervisor support and the reward-recognition toward the nurses can significantly strengthen the nurses engagement. The head and management of hospital require to consider importantly to grow and improve engagement to increase nurse productivity and loyalty by giving reward-recognition to the nurse through hospital support, supervisor support and accomodate job characteristics with work assignment of nurse.
