- Earlier research has shown that work engagement associated with organizational outcomes (such as employee retention, productivity, profitablility, customer loyalty & safety) and individual outcomes (such as job satisfaction, job involvement & health problem). Moreover, research also revealed that work engagement significantly related with nurses� extra-role performance. In line with this fact, many studies has been conducted to explore antecedents of work engagement. According to Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), antecedents of work engagement are self-efficacy and tranformational leadership wherein self-efficacy serve as mediator between transformational leadership and work engagement. Referring to SCT, this study examined the relationship between transformational leadership and work engagement through mediaton of self-efficacy. 191 Bethesda Hospital Nurses participated in this study. Data were collected from Work Engagement Scale, transformational leadership scale and self-efficacy scale. Data were tested using Regression Model. The result shows that self-efficacy doesn�t mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and work engagement (R=0,066 and F=0,827
