- A Study on the using of Tamanu oil (Calophyllum inophyllum L) as sunscreen cosmetics material : formula lotion optimization had been done with simplex lattice design method and SPF value test was conducted by in vitro assay. Firstly, Tamanu oil was extracted using soxhletation and followed by optimization of Tamanu oil in lotion sunscreen preparation using SLD program and determination of its SPF value using UV-Spectrophotometer The SPF result showed that SPF values of Tamanu oil in various concentration 0.2 mg/ml, 0.25 mg/ml and 0.3mg/ml were respectively 10.34± 0.06, 17.28± 0.02 and 26.07± 0.28. The results of formula optimation showed that optimum formula consist of 50 % of Tamanu oil, 0.89 % of HPMC, 5.35 % of propylenglycol, 8.76 % of glycerin, 0,2% of methyl paraben and aquq to 100%. This formula is predicted by software to have values of the dispersive power, viscosity and viscosity change were respectively 7.87 cm, 121,05 d.PaS and 10.05 %, where the evaluation result of the dispersive power, viscosity and viscosity change were respectively 7.47± 0.26cm, 130 ±5 d.PaS and 10.9 ±1.21%. All of these parameters are not statistically different from the experiment data . The SPF result showed that SPF values of sunscreen lotion Tamanu oil was respectively 30.46± 0.72(after 0,6 mg/ml dilution).
