  • Weed is plant living in undesired place. It means the plant may damage directly or indirectly. In ecological perspective, weed plays role of protecting land surface from erosion, decreasing water speed, and preventing lost of nutrient in the soil. The research was intended to study composition and distribution of weed species in corn (Zea mays L.) area, association between weeds species, and change in number of individual of dominant-codominant weed species. Research area was determined with 86 m long and 22 m width. 15 plots with dimension of 1m x 1m were distributed, then divided into 5 plots of dominant weed species, 5 plots of co-dominant weeds species, and 5 plots of control. Sample was analyzed using plot square including density, density relative, frequency, relative frequency and importance. Association was analyzed using observed square and expected square. The result indicated that in early observation weed Cyperus sp is more dominant than other weeds species with importance value of 42.81, importance value at repetition I, II, and II are 36.75, 27.06, and 29.96, respectively. For control plot, Cyperus sp is sill dominant but in change process is not stable. First observation and repetition III have almost same value (27.2 and 27.6) while in observation II and IV number of individual add to 29.8 and 28.2. Analytical result of weed species association indicted that observed square and expected square is 0, so they are independent.
