Daftar Isi:
- Naked neck traits in a native chicken which is expressed by Na gene well effect indirectly on its environment heat tolerance. The objectives of this research is to study genetic inheritance of qualitative and quantitative traits in Naked Neck Fowl (NNF). This research was aimed to provide baseline data that useful for NNF genetic quality improvement. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Poultry Faculty of Animal Science for 7 months (2013 July 2014 January). The materials consist of 5 NNF sires, 15 NNF dams, 15 dams of Normal Feathered Fowl (NFF), embryos and chickens offspring that obtained by a cross between NNF and NFF which is 1:6 ratio (1 NNF sire was crossed with 3 NNF and 3 NFF dams). All of offspring were maintained for 10 weeks. The qualitative traits that be observed are color and feather condition, color of shank and the type of their comb. The quantitative traits that be measured are production data (weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion, egg production and egg weight) and reproduction data (fertility, hatchability, hatching quality). Data were analyzed using analysis of chi-square and nested design variance (hierarchical structure). The results showed that the parents native chicken diversity coefficient was still quite large (> 10%). The final weight of NFF dams significantly was bigger than the NNF dams. Egg production, fertility, mortality, egg weight, egg index, DOC weight, and weight at the age of 10 weeks between NNF and NFF dams are the same. Weight on 10-week old chicks based of mating group from NNF sires x dams was significantly smaller than of NNF sires x NFF dams. The correlation between weight of dams and egg weight is a moderately positive and the correlation between egg weight and DOC weight is a highly positive. Heritability (h2) that based on the sire components has the smallest value. The biggest value of heritability was gained by the dam components. The genetic inheritance are actually influenced by the kinds and the characteristic of their constituent genes. The distribution of genotypes in some qualitative traits observed (condition and color of feather, color of shank and type of comb) showed that it still followed The Mendelian ratio. It could be concluded that the qualitative traits of genetic inheritance always follow the Mendel rule. NNF and NFF quantitative traits variability are still widespread.
