  • The pilot project of School Based Disaster Preparedness (SSB) in SDN 2 Parangtritis and SMAN 1 Kretek has not proven conclusively school communitiâ��s preparedness in anticipated the threat of earthquake and tsunami. At the other side there are a lot of school in Kretek District which has not implemented SSB program. The purposeses of this research are to analyze preparedness degrees of SSB communities and non SSB communities, analyze the differences between both and analyze factors which affecting the differences. This research is field research with mixed method sequensial approach. Collecting datas done with questionnaire, depthinterview with the key informan, observation and documentaion. While statistical analyze used statistic test of Independent T Test. The result showed that SSB communities and non SSB are included in category ready to anticipate the threat of earthquake and tsunami. The result of statistical test showed that there are no significant differences between the both communities. It was influenced by internal and external factors. The internal factors such as the leadership of the headmaster, lack capacity of the teachers, the limited number of workforce that support SSB activities and the lack of financial support and involvement School Committee in SSB activities. External factors such as the principal policy-intensive mutation in SSB by the Department of Education and Culture of Kretek District and Bantul Regency, the lack of operational financial support from government, the heavily of curriculum expense, the implementation of the SSB program which not included mentoring and evaluation activities, an integrated evaluation system and sustainable funding by the third part or facilitator pilot project SSB in the district of Kretek Bantul Regency.
