- Background : Tuberculosis ( TB ) remains a major global health problem. In the last few years, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of TB has become more complicated because of HIV-related TB and MDR - TB. Microscopic acid fast bacilli examination of smear is a diagnostic examination that is widely used, but it is difficult to detect bacteria with less than 10,000 CFU / ml and could not detect bacterial resistance. Examination of the geneXpert is a new diagnostic tool that can diagnose TB and rifampicin resistance within 2 hours. Objective : The objective of this study is to determine and compare the results of microscopic examination of acid fast bacilli bacteria with geneXpert among patients with suspected MDR - TB. Methods : This study is an observational study . Secondary data and the results of microscopic examination of the GeneXpert patients with suspected MDR - TB will be compared and analyzed . Results : The microscopic examination of acid fast bacilli bacteria with geneXpert as comparison has sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (LR +), negative likelihood ratio (LR-) respectively 57.50%
