  • Background: Drug abuse may decrease the function of human body system, including the damage of the liver function. The data from BNN in 2011, there were 279 cases of drug abuses and there were 1422 in cases of drug abuse in the last 5 years in DIY Province. This data above shows that drug abuse is one of the major problems in society. Goals: To know the changes of the liver function level of the ex drug abuser in Al Islami Rehabilitation Center, Tetirah Zikir Rehabilitation , Pondok Pesantren Nurul Haromain KulonProgo and Grhasia Hospital. Methods: This research uses cross sectional. The research subjects are the serum of the ex drug abuser. The collected serum are measured to know the level of Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) or Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) and Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT) or Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT). The data are analyzed using the Chi Square Method with Yates Correction to know the correlation between the observed variables. Results: From the 25 case subjects, there are no statistically significant correlation (p > 0.05) between the change /elevation of the liver function of the drug abuser. The elevation of the SGOT level and SGPT level in the correlation with the duration of drug abuse, there are no statistically significant(p > 0.05). The elevation of SGOT level and SGPT level in the correlation with the duration of rehabilitation , there are no statistically significant(p > 0.05). The differences of the elevation of SGOT level and SGPT level between cases subjects (25 persons) and control subjects (32 persons) shows no statistically significant result(p>0.05). Conclusion: Liver function serum level (SGOT and SGPT) in ex drug abuser there are no elevation. There are no correlation between the duration of drug abuse and the duration of the rehabilitation with the elevation of liver function serum level (SGOT and SGPT). Keywords: Drug Abuse, SGOT, SGPT
