  • Background: Drugs abuse is known worldwide for its effect to humanâs body. Kidney is one of humanâs organs that can be fatally impacted. Yogyakarta is the city of knowledge, culture, and tourism, making it potential to become a strategic place for drugs trafficking in Indonesia. Goal: This study was conducted among the ex-drugs addicts in Yayasan Al-Islami Rehabilitation Center, Pondok Pesantren Nurul Haromain Kulonprogo, Tetirah Dzikir Rehabilitation Center, and Ghrasia Hospital Yogyakarta. It is aimed to measure the physiologic function of the ex-drug addictsâ kidney function through their Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine levels. Method: We performed cross-sectional descriptive and analytic study. Subjects of this study are the ex-drugs addicts. Their serums were checked for Blood Urea Nitrogen and creatinine levels. Data was analyzed by Chi Square statistics with Yates Correction to understand the relationship between variables. Results: There is significant finding (p < 0.05) in the functional changes of ex-drugs addictsâ kidney due to their creatinine levels whereas there is no significant finding (p > 0.05) in their Blood Urea Nitrogen levels. There is also no significant finding (p > 0.05) in the relationship between the duration of drugs abusing and rehabilitation with the kidney function. Increase in BUN and creatinine levels of ex-drugs addicts (25 respondents) and non-drugs addicts (31 respondents) shows no significant finding (p > 0.05). Conclusion: There is only increase of creatinine levels in ex-drugs addictsâ kidney function test. There is no relationship between kidney function test with the duration of drugs abusing and rehabilitation. Key word: Drugs, BUN, Creatinine
