- This contrastive study on the Indonesian (BI) and Korean language (BK) simple sentence structure deals with three principal issues, namely (1) the structure of BI and BK simple sentence based on the function and category of its elements, (2) the similarities and differences of Indonesian and Korean language simple sentence structure and (3) the implication of this research�s findings in the teaching of Indonesian and Korean as a foreign language. The method used in the data collection process was identity method with ultimate constituent analysis (pilah unsur tertentu) technique. Then the data were analyzed by using distributional method with Immediate Constituent Analysis (bagi unsur langsung) technique and continued by markers analysis (baca markah) techniques to determine the grammatical characteristics of constituents that compose Indonesian and Korean simple sentence. In the final phase, the data were analyzed using the identity method with contrastive technique to identify Indonesian and Korean simple sentence structure in order to obtain information about the grammatical characteristics� similarities and differences between the two languages. The results obtained from the data analysis showed that (1) Indonesian simple sentence structure including S-P, S-P-O, S-P-C, S-P-A, and S-P-O-C, every functions in the structure are not marked by a marker while Korean simple sentence structure of S-P, S-O-P, S-C- P, S-A-P , and S-A-O-C every functions in the structure are marked by a marker (2) The structural criteria similarity of Indonesian and Korean languages simple sentence structure is only in form of the elements� category that occupy the S and O function which filled by noun category (N) and noun phrase (NP)
