  • Background: Safety culture is increasingly recognized as an important strategy and may be necessary precursors to increase broad deficit in patient safety. The Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organitation (JCAHO) includes an annual assessment of safety culture in 2007 that aims to patient safety. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) report''Human error is spurring healthcare organizations to implement initiatives that improve patient safety. However, culture is defined and measured in various ways. Objective: Knowing the influence of seniority on the attitudes of young physicians in patient safety in obstetrics gynecology ward Hospital Dr. Sardjito. Subject: Young doctors who are undergoing clinical rotation in obstetrics gynecology wards Dr. Sardjito Hospital. Methods: The effect of seniority and attitudes toward patient safety using the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire measured, and then performed statistical tests. Results: Statistical test using independent t-test showed no significant difference between the attitudes of seniority level of patient safety in the department of obstetrics and gynecology wards Dr. Sardjito (p> 0.05). Conclusion: Attitudes toward patient safety is not affected by the level of seniority of young doctors in the department of obstetrics and gynecology wards Dr. Sardjito.
