  • This study was conducted to determine the determinants of student acceptance to the Facebook social networking site, which is currently a popular social networking site, with TAM approach. Ubiquitous/pervasive computing and web usability factors added as antecedent factors of TAM. In addition, this study also aimed to determine the effect of Facebook use on student engagement. Analysis of hypothesis was performed using SEM with two-step approach. This study took a sample of 235 student respondents. The results showed that the factors of unobtrusiveness and context awareness, as part of pervasive computing, has effect on perceived usefulness. While the ubiquity factor of pervasive computing influence the perceived ease of used. However, web usability factors do not significantly affect the perceived ease of use. This study suggests that perceived usefulness affects both the frequency of Facebook usage and frequency of Facebook activities, while perceived ease of use affects only the frequency of Facebook activities. This study also proves that both of the frequency of Facebook usage and frequency of facebook activities affect the student engagement.
