  • Most of the electrical energy produced in Indonesia comes from fossil energy sources. Fossil energy sources are non-renewable energy sources and few in numbe . Utilization of fossil energy is causing CO2 amount in atmospheric increase. Besides the fossil energi, in Indonesia there are several renewable energy which numerous and safe for the environment, however, utilization is not maximized. Therefore, research on how to increase the capacity of renewable energy source utilization as source of electricity generation need to be done. Abstract Method that is widely used in developing countries for improving the utilization of renewable energy capacity, is the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) method. RPS is a policy that requires electricity producers and customers to use renewable energy sources in electricity generation. This study aimed to define the concept of RPS implementation that suitable for Indonesia. RPS prevailing in foreign countries studied, to determine the RPS concept that suitable for Indonesia. Energy sources and technologies which are focused in the RPS concept, were selected based on their potential in Indonesia. Then, with the sensitivity method terms of the concept mechanism of the RPS implementation, benefits, and environmental impact are analyzed. The results of this study are solar renewable energy targets for 5908.1 GWh, or 1 % of the total energy mix by 2025, Inaccordance to KEN No. 05/2006 regulation. RPS target is intended to PT PLN (Persero). Fulfillment of targets is done by giving new customers of 6600 VA class requirement for using Solar Home System in their home. The advantage gained when customers comply the RPS is Rp102.943.124,31, if the government incentives based on ESDM Government Regulation Number 17, 2013, Article 3, paragraph 1 and 2, is applied. CO2 emission savings that may occur is 21,177,112.89 tons of CO2.
