- Background: Infanticide is infant killing by its mother soon or sometime after the baby is born. To identify cases of infanticide requires autopsy. Method most commonly practised in infanticide is mechanical asphyxia. Method: The study was descriptive retrospective on Visum et Repertum infanticide within 4 years period (2009-2012). Data on geographical distribution on shipment of evidence, gender of the deceased, causes of death, sign of treatment were collected and compiled in tables. Result: Geographical result of shipment of evidence showed the majority were from District of Sleman (43.33 %), male (53.33 %), showed no sign of post natal normative treatment (73.33 %), and due to bleeding (26,67 %). Conclusion: Causes of infanticide caused by bleeding and asphyxia had no significant difference, ie. there were 8 cases of infant death caused by bleeding (26.67 %) and 5 cases caused by asphyxia(16,67 %). There were some cases hard to identify because the evidence had decayed or become skeleton.
