  • Melon is one of the high-potential horticulture plants for agribusiness. Melon plant production process is hampered because the plantsare susceptible to pets and disease.One of the diseases that infect these plants is Powdery mildew.Powdery mildew can cause decreased crop production results.Necessary that melon cultivars resistant to powdery mildew is needed to improve melon production.The purpose of this research was to study the resistance of melon plants especially against Powdery mildew Tacapa cultivars.The study was conducted on melon crop cultivars that are Tacapa melon plants from crosses between Action 434 and PI 371795 test crossed.Resistante test was conducted on melon plants by inoculation with Powdery mildew isolate of Bantul. Data was collected by using a scoring technique gridline. The results of the resistentce test on melon plants was evaluated by chi-square test (X 2 ).Based on the evaluation of chi-square Tacapa melon cultivars have resistance to powdery mildew with a level of resistance that was in accordance with the Mendelian Inheritance patterns.The genes that control the properties ofresistanceTacapamelon cultivars is a single dominant gene.Tacapa melon cultivars require purification stages so that plants possess a stable security.
