Daftar Isi:
- One of a densely populated area, District of Banguntapan reaches the highest number of patients with Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF). The number of cases which increased continuously is the point for a real effort to eradicate infectious DHF. Vector control through the use of the insecticide mosquito fogging program is ordered to eradicate dengue fever. The continuously use of insecticides in a long period of time and high frequency causes the mosquito to become resistant to insecticides. This study aims to determine the Aedes spp. breeding places characteristics and resistance status of organophosphates in endemic and non-endemic areas as a preliminary study of vector control policies.Selection of the appropriate location for sampling obtained from Puskesmas Banguntapan, the first is Dusun Wonocatur which has endemic epidemiological status, while the Desa Baturetno has non-endemic epidemiological status. The study was conducted by cruising to places that potentially become breeding places of mosquitoes in August-September 2013. Larvae Aedes spp. obtained in sampling location were identified and partially were tested resistance to organophosphates compounds using microplate assays in November 2013. Larvae which can be found at both locations are the species of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Characteristics of larval breeding places of Aedes spp. in District Banguntapan are container which covered by algae, rough surfaces, unmaintained, and low light intensity. The ranges of water temperature are 24,5 0 C-27 0 C, air temperature 30 0 C-34,5 0 C, and pH ± 5,5. Larvae resistance status to organophosphates in endemic areas is resistant, whereas in non-endemic areas is susceptible status.
