  • The existence of the street as a place to do variety of activities is an important issue at this time. Especially after a realization that in recent decades, the streets in various cities in the world were dominated by motor vehicles than human activities. Besides, human activity on the streets acts as a key to determine cityâs livability. It is as noted by Jacobs (1961) that if a lot of human activity happens on the city streets, then the city will be alive and interesting. And, if there is no activity in the city streets, then the city will be empty and dull. Learning from these failures, many cities in the world are now competing to create streets that have a variety of human activities through the concept of livable street. The concept is to bring a variety of activities focused on the road by improving the comfort and human security. Given the importance of street livability, this study aims to determine the factor of streets livability. The location of this research is the Jalan Kemasan, one of the livable streets in Yogyakarta, which reflected in the diversity of many human activities. Livability of Jalan Kemasan is affected by external factors and internal factors. External factors are related to outside factors that influence livability of Jalan Kemasan. While internal factors are related to the factors influencing Jalan Kemasan own elements that affect itâs livability. Internal factors here are the focus of research, which is to identify the factors that determine livablity of Jalan Kemasan. This research uses deductive methods with qualitative analysis. Observation variables derived from livable streets theory, which later will be verified at Jalan Kemasan itself. Overlaying the most livable spot in the Jalan Kemasan with observation variables is done to identify those variables. And later, linkage analysis used to found the factors that determine livability of Jalan Kemasan.
