- Fiber reinforced composite (FRC) was used as a fixed partial denture restorative material. Anterior area often experienced fractures. Application more than a single fiber in FRC was done to overcome the fractures of the anterior area. The aim in this study was to determine the difference in flexural strength between one layer and two layers of UHMWPE type of FRC. The material used in this study were FRC flowable composite matrix (Master Flow, Brazil) and UHMWPE fiber (Construct, USA). FRC study samples with UHMWPE fiber were shaped a beam (2 mm x 2 mm x 25 mm). Samples were divided into group I with one layer of fiber and group II with two layers of fiber. Four samples for each group. The sample were light cured for 20 seconds and performed for 4 times. Samples were soaked into 120 ml aquades with a temperature of 37°C for 24 hours. Flexural strength was measured by a Universal Testing Machine (Tokyo Testing Machine). Flexural strength data were analyzed statistically using independent t - test with a significance level of 0,05. The results of this study showed that the mean flexural strength of the group I was (61.23±26,42) MPa and group II was (117.28±19,86) MPa. The results of independent t - test showed that there were flexural strength differences between one layer group and two layers group of UHMWPE fiber (p < 0,05). The conclusion of this study is the FRC group with two layers of fiber has a flexural strength higher than FRC groups with one layer of fiber.
