  • In Indonesia, where people with HIV / AIDS (PHAs ) identified with sinners and immoral. So that people with HIV deserve shunned and ostracized . Though HIV can affect anyone, and people infected with the HIV will be a carrier of the HIV virus and infecting the rest of his life. Until now, the phenomenon of people with HIV / AIDS is still something interesting. We often hear that people with HIV / AIDS are treated differently to others. Expelled from the association, even expelled by his own family. Treatment is then made PLHIV difficult to bridge yourself with others. They are afraid to share their experiences, even to declare that he was infected and needed help, he was always concerned about the reaction and acceptance of himself. Society considers it a source of unrest that HIV-positive people, either in small groups, or in large scale. On the basis that people with HIV make efforts so that its identity is recognized. Recognition of HIVpositive people not only on economic equality, akes the public service, but also the recognition of the existence of the existence of people living with HIV as part of the community. This study aims to determine the process of recognition in people with HIV. Initial state of HIV-positive people who are very emotional, loss of life, people with HIV are able to be accepted back in the social environment. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The approach used is a social construction approach. Using data collection techniques, observation, interviews, documentation and literature. Informants in this study were twelve : one coordinator KDS, KDS three members, one person from the family, the community field coordinators Be Positive, one person from Magelang District Health Office, one person from the Global Fund, and the activists of the Companions women. Plus three informants outside community agencies . Observations made in house coordinator KDS which is a gathering place where friends KDS. Interviews were conducted openly with informants determination technique using purposive technique . The results showed that the recognition process occurs in people with multiple stages . Stages of the recognition process begins when the relationship formed between people with other people . This positive relationship sign that people with HIV are already at peace with himself. By having relationships with other people, people living with HIV were able to describe their wants and needs as individuals are ' special '. After that HIVpositive people are trying to be able to harmonize the rights and responsibilities that accompany both as individuals and as a group. One form of responsibility that people with HIV do is to participate in the prevention and transmission of HIV / AIDS by providing socialization in society. The culmination of the process of recognition is a state where people with HIV and have an equal opportunity to participate in the formation of culture and culture itself . In other words, people with HIV are able to develop themselves in the social environment . In this case the Peer Support Group ( KDS ) became the prototype of a form of culture that formed with AIDS.
