  • Background: The increasing number of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and is estimated to continue to increase in the future. In anticipation to this, it takes a diabetic patient compliance in their therapy. Many things can be done to maintain and improve the compliance, one of which is the hospital pharmacy service with good management. This will be very helpful to perform routine patient taking medication on a regular basis. Objectives: (1) To identify the major factor that can affect the routine drugs taking of diabetic outpatients of PROLANIS participants at ASKES Kudus, (2) To explore the expectations and desires of patients as PROLANIS participants at PT. ASKES Kudus on pharmacy services. Methods: Total 11 informants participated in this study. Ten (10) of them were married couples. Case study research, namely in-depth interviews, was used to determine the factors that can affect the routine medication taking at the pharmacy on a regular monthly basis. In addition, interviews were done to explore the hopes and desires of informants that their compliance was always maintained. Results: The long wait when they had to take drugs after receiving specialist services at RSUD Kudus Hospital was reported by all the informants. In addition, some informants described different experience they received on the types and numbers of drugs in their prescription. Conclusions: (1) waiting time (queue) is a major factor that can affect the routine drug taking of diabetic outpatients of PROLANIS participants at ASKES Kudus branch office, and (2) Some patientsâ�� expectations were: (a) PT. ASKES and hospital management will do more ccordination to solve the queue problem which affect the waiting time. The service for PROLANIS patients in RSUD Kudus hospital (secondary services, with specialist doctors), is not only focused on one (1) pharmacy only
