- The acetic acid from molasses Plant is designed with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes / year and operated for 330 days / year and 24 hours / day. The products obtained is acetic acid with 99% purity. The plant is planned to be established in the Central Lampung, Lampung. Acetic acid is made from molasses fermentation by using Saccharomyces cereviceae to form ethanol that leasted for 32 hours in a batch reactions in the first fermenter. This reaction occurs at a temperature of 30oC and 1 atm pressure. The heat arising during the reaction taken by the cooling water that flows in coil. Ethanol then used in another fermentation reactions to form acetic acid using Acetobacter aceti in batch reactions that leasted for 36 hours in the second fermenter which is operating at a simillar temperatures and pressures with the first fermenter. The fermentation product that contained a plenty of water and another substrate then process with purifying using distillation processes to obtained 99% purity. The plant is build in 10.7 acres industrial area and employs 274 employees. This plant required 60,000 kg / hr molasses as the raw material which is a waste from sugar plant. This plant demand 4548.08 kg / hour of steam, 154,211.71 kg / hour of water, 544.71 kg / hr of fuel, and 1075.61 kVA electrical needs. Required fixed capital is Rp 359,563,790,719.74 + U.S. $ 32,915,530.96
