  • Hanauzumi was a novel written by Watanabe Jun`ichi, published in 1970. It tells its reader about the struggle of the main character, Ogino Ginko, in reaching her dream to be a female doctor. This research uses the structural theory and feminist literature critism. This research begins with analysis of the intrinsic elements and followed by the analysis of gender inequalities Ginko coped within patriarchy environment. Feminist literature critism is a discourse emphasizing on how literature research should be done through feminist perspective. The important things of feminist literature critism are how the women are described, how a text could be related to gender and sex distinction, and any feminist ideas depicted in the story. The results of this research prove that the main character (Ginko) faces gender inequalities such as subordinations, stereotyping and violences including psychological and sexual violences. Meanwhile, the ideas of feminism in the story are about a womanâs independence and her ability to achieve higher education.
