Daftar Isi:
- The purpose of this research is to find out and evaluate of wind breaker with pine trees (Casuarina equisetifolia Linn.) as windbreak. Evaluation is to find out the effectiveness of windbreak with pine trees in reducing the wind speed and control the transported salt by wind as well as the damaged crops caused by the wind. The research was obtained the data of the wind speed using the manual Anemometer AM-4200 with direct measurements, based on variation in time of morning (07.30 a.m.), afternoon (13.00 p.m.), and evening (16.00 p.m.). Levels of salt that are carried by the wind is calculated using the Bagnold salt trap, as well as crops damaged were measured by Census methods. The effectiveness of pine as windbreak could be seen from the wind breaking against the decreased of wind speed in the agricultural area. Analysis was made using the Paired Sample T-Test. Moreover, the effectiveness of windbreak also seen from the relation of wind speed and salt content trapped and the rate of crops damage, by using a linear regreassion curve approach. The result of the research show that windbreak is less effective in reducing the wind speed and transported salt particles by wind as well as the damaged crops caused by the wind. Results of the analysis indicate that the protected areas were up to a distance of 15 meter from trees as windbreak (30% of land area). The relationship between the wind speed and salt content which was trapped having 91% significant, while the relationship between the wind speed and the rate of crops damage was 95.1%.
