  • Brushless direct current (BLDC) motor has been widely used in many applications as well as automotive, aerospace, medical, industry, and instrumentation. Rotor position has to be known to drive BLDC motor. Rotor position was detected by hall sensor those are mounted in the stator. Commonly, there are 3 hall-effect sensors that separated by 60 0 each other. In this research, design and testing of a 3-phase inverter using hall-effect sensor to control brushless direct current motor is conducted. Full-bridge topology was used with MOSFET IRFZ44 as switch. Pulse width modulation was controlled by 16-bit microcontroller dsPIC30F4012. The results showed that BLDC motor can be driven well. The increase of duty-cycle is proportional to the speed of motor.
