  • Research has been performed with maximum likelihood accoustic impedance inversion method to identify sandstone reservoir distribution on field â��Xâ�� Talang Akar formation Northwest Java Basin. The process of inversion was done by using 3D PSTM seismic data with one well log as control. Inversion process begins with sensitivity test to detemine value range of sandstone reservoar and shale, then continued with well to seismic tie process in order to tie well data with its depth domain and seismic data with its time domain, and then continued with horizon picking on top and bottom of interest area. Background model was built with ordinary krigging method and continued with maximum likelihood inversion method. Inversion result shows that accoustic impedance value of sandstone reservoar on interest area TAF 3-1 ranges beetween 8300 m/s gr/cc â�� 9400 m/s gr/cc that distributed from southeast to northeast direction of field â��Xâ��. Accoustic impedance result shows that there are 2 area that can be used as well drilling location. Those location are input well location and northeast are of it because of their low accoustic impedance values and anticline structure.
