- Sleman district play a very important role for Yogyakarta region, not only as a race barn but also as a water cathment area. That is why Sleman District has a responsibility to maintain that function. But, because of the physical condition and geographycal position be contiguous with Yogyakarta city, this region grow quickly. One of the important development is housing and now reach far to the deep of Sleman rural. This development caused the exchange in area function. Unfortunately there many opinion or a kind of judgment that the development also open many job opportunities arround that place. That is why the aim of this research is to explain detaily the impact of housing development in the rural especially from the spatial aspect and job opportunity. This research took place in �Perumahan Griya Taman Asri, Desa Pendowoharjo Donoharjo, Kabupaten Sleman�. From this research can be conclused that the characteristic of the region before develop, this region is a kind of fertilize rice field. Phisically that provided. People around the region majority work in the farming sector with alower level education (uneducated well, while the citizen of �Perumahan Griya Taman Asri� dominated by goverment and private employee with the higher level of education, at least senior high school, and their income higher than the people around them. The interaction between the poeple around and the citizen of the housing are closed phisically because supported by the physical condition and completely of infrastructure. Their interaction also close economically, especially in fulfiling their daily need, whereas their week and monthly needthey get from outside of the research place because of the location of their job. While, their social interaction unstressed because they are often did the same activity. The interaction trigger the further impact. From the spatial aspect, the development of housing caused the change function of ground, both for the residence and business place. The matter of it follow the street line or the spread in the side of housing. While, for the job vacancy, the development of housing caused two kind of impact:exactly decrease job opportunity, especially in farming sector, but emerge a new chance , especially in informal services. Based on that condition, the development of housing in the rural can be cuntinued as far as choose the unfertilized ground with the building and enviranment order to maintain the function as catchment area.
