Daftar Isi:
- Majutsu is a short story by Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, published in 1920 in Akai Tori magazine. The theme of this short story is about the selfish human behavior that wants to have everything without working hard. The main character of this short story is the I character who attempted to control his emotions when using magic. This research used the structural theory and the theory of humanistic psychology by Abraham Maslow. Structural theory is used to analyze the intrinsic elements of the short story and the linkages between these elements. Meanwhile, humanistic psychology is used to analyze the form of fulfilling the characters need to achieve his self-actualization. Based on the analysis conducted, several of the following conclusions can be drawn: the I character is able to fulfill his physiological needs and the need to feel secure, but he can not fulfill the need to own and love, as well the need to be appreciated, because he can not control his inner emotions when using magic. Thus, he has not been able to achieve self-actualization.
