- Incidence of drug related problems (DRPs) often occurs in elderly patient. Organ function declines in the elderly cause degenerative diseases, such as diabetes mellitus (DM). Elderly patient with type 2 diabetes at risk of DRPs that affect the patient�s quality of life (QoL). This study aims to determine the relationship between DRPs and QoL in elderly patient with from type 2 diabetes in Geriatric Clinic of Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. The study design was a cross sectional study. The study was conducted on 60 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Geriatric Clinic of Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta on period March 18th 2013 � June 18th 2013. DRPs assessment based on the literature and interviews related to the assessment of patient compliance and drug side effects based on Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) and Naranjo Scale. The Short Form-36 (SF-36) questionnaire was used to measure QoL the patients. The results of study was found that total incidence of DRPs are 46 events from 60 patients (53,33 %) consist of drug interaction (19 events)
