  • Research on isolation, identification and toxicity test of the sea hare Aplysia parvula extract have been carried out. The isolation was performed by extraction process using a mixture of methanol:dichloromethane (2:1). Dichloromethane extract was than partitioned with ethyl acetat:water (3:2). Crude ethyl acetate extract was separated by column chromatohraphy using a gradient elution system of n-heksane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol. Crude ethyl acetate extract and fractions from column chromatography were tested their toxicities using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BST) method. Compounds comprising the active fractions were analysed by Liquid Chromatography-Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry (LC-ESIMS). The result of toxicity test showed that Lethal Concentration 50 (LC50) value of ethyl acetate extract is 69,18 Î1⁄4g/mL whereas fractions I - V from column chromatography are 330.37, 104.47, 295.80, 335.74, and 223.87 Î1⁄4g/mL, respectively. LC-ESIMS analysis indicates that the fraction II consists of several compounds, i.e (1Z)-3-methyl-1-[(1S,6R)-2,2,6-trimethyl-7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0]hept -1-yl]penta-1,4-dien-3-yl acetate, cadalene, japonenyn-A, and eckstolonol. Compounds loliolide, japonenyne-A, and halogenated furanone vary likely comprises fraction V.
