Daftar Isi:
- Celeng Watershed, located in Bantul Regency, the Special Province of Yogyakarta (DIY Province), grows several aspects, viz. hydrologic, climatic, geologic, as well as social and cultural. Groundwater is predominantly used in daily activities especially is settlement area in Celeng. It is, then, significantly affects its quantity and, most importantly, its quality as drinking water. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of groundwater for drinking water in each residential unit in the Celeng Watershed. The unit used was the density of settlement. This research used stratified random sampling method in selecting groundwater samples for quality analysis inc. physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters. It was conducted directly at the field using digital instrument and laboratory analysis. The test results were then compared with the Water Quality Standard of DIY Class 1 for drinking water. The results showed that the quality of groundwater for drinking water in residential units in the Celeng Watershed is not suitable for drinking water . In accordance with the gubernatorial DIY number 20 of 2008 on Water Quality Standards, the parameters which affect, among others, the content of nitrate, phosphate and total coli that exceeds quality standard limits for drinking water . In addition, low levels of dissolved oxygen below the water quality standard limits for drinking water grade 1. Factor has the highest concentration of pollutants in areas with a low density residential. It is influenced by environmental sanitation and domestic waste disposal system. Domestic sewage in regions with a high density of settlements through the sewer that leads to the river, while in areas with low and medium density residential, household waste is dumped directly into the ground so that the waste can get into the groundwater system. The dominant factor in the watershed pollutant boar is nitrate ( NO3 ), phosphate ( PO4 ) and total coliform . The content of nitrate and phosphate in the watershed exceeds the limit class 1 Water Quality Standard for drinking water. Necessary to supervise the condition of the groundwater quality in particular about sanitation and disposal of domestic waste that can impair water quality for drinking water.
