  • Background : The earliest clinical reports of HIV infection highlighted sleep disturbance as a prominent complaint. Psychologic morbidity was the major determinant of insomnia in HIV/AIDS than other factors . In the present time, there are no study that show the effects of LPD on improvement of sleep quality in HIV Infection/AIDS patients with depressive symptoms. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine whether the LPD can improve sleep quality in HIV Infection/AIDS patients with depressive symptoms. Methods : Quasi-experimental research was conducted in HIV Infection / AIDS patients in Edelweis and psychosomatic clinics of Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta and Ario Wiryawan pulmonary hospital Salatiga. Distribution data was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Variables with a normal distribution tested by independent t test. Differences were considered significant if p value <0.05 with 95% confidence intervals. Results : The mean BDI score after exercise LPD improved significantly (19,83±9,09vs 13,61±8,37, p=0,003). The mean PSQI score after the LPD also decreased significantly compared to pre LPD (8,78±2,36 vs 5,11±2,92, p< 0,001). Conclusions: Latihan pasrah diri improve sleep quality as shown with the lowering of the PSQI score in HIV Infection/AIDS patients with depressive symptoms.
