  • Background: Anemia prevalence in Teminabuan, South Sorong, West Papua still high (61,65%). In South East Asia malaria still become the etiology of anaemia. South Sorong is a high endemic malaria area with Annual Paracite Incidence (API) in 2011 is 10,3/1000. WHO (World Health Organization) recommendation for preventing malaria in pregnancy are by using Insecticide-treated nets (ITN) and intermittent preventive treatment (IPT). Goal: to analyze the effect of IPT-SP on anemia in pregnancy at endemic area of malaria, Teminabuan, South Sorong, West Papua. Design research: randomized controlled study. Location of study: PHC of Teminabuan, Teminabuan District, South Sorong, West Papua. Results: The initial mean of hemoglobin was 8.498 g% versus 8.833 g% and the post treatment mean of hemoglobin was 8.823 g% versus 8.958 g% for SP and placebo group, respectively, with no statistical difference between the groups.
