- Naturally, drying process have some drawbacks such as need a long time to drying, need time in reversal process, and this metode depending on the weather. Therefore need to design a tool 'cocoa beans drying oven' for drying. Its function is not dependent on the weather. This drying oven has 3 main parts: a combustion chamber that uses LPG gas, the drying chamber which is equipped with spinning drying rack made of bamboo or rattan, and disposal duct smoke or vapor fuel cocoa beans. There are some metods used in this study. The first is design a tool. Next step are choosing material and preaparation tools. Next step is construction tool in the workshop. Finally, tool need to test. The test results show that the drying oven is dry cocoa beans with a capacity of 30 kg require 25-hour drying time and spend 3 LPG gas cylinder with total size 6,7 kg. The average temperature of the drying chamber is 50 ° C. The moisture content of dry beans can reach 7-10% from 55-70% which was originally wet.
