  • Somatic embryogenesis is a method for plant regeneration in vitro which is efficient for crop improvement. The ability of the tissue to perform the growth and development depends on nutrients contained in the culture medium, especially nitrogen. This research was aimed to determine the effect of nitrogen (KNO3, NH4NO3 and glutamine) and obtain the most optimum concentration on somatic embryogenesis as superior clone for regeneration of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell.-Arg). The study was conducted by inducing callus in MS medium supplemented by 2.4-D (5 mg/l) and the induction of somatic embryos in MS medium supplemented by BA (2 mg/l) and NAA (0.05 mg/l) to see the influence of nitrogen sources NH4NO3 concentration (650, 1,150
