- This research objectives are to analyze the effectiveness of property tax collection in Sleman District from 2008 until 2012, and to analyze the preparedness of Sleman local government concerning property tax transition from central government to local government. This qualitative research employs field and literature study for data gathering. The research found that property tax collection in Sleman District from 2008 until 2012 is effective. This is supported by the fact that property tax�s annual revenue target has always been fulfilled. Secondly, this research suggests that Sleman Local Government is sufficiently ready to receive the authority from the central government to manage property tax collection despite of some remaining obstacles and deficiencies that need to be evaluated and improved, especially some issues in information technology and asset appraisal.
