  • A transformer is an electrical apparatus that can move or transfer electrical energi and converts electrical energy from one voltage level to another level trough the performance of a single magnetic coupling and is based on the priciple of electromagnetic induction. A transformer must be equipped with their nameplate. According to ANSI and IEEE commissioning a transformer at the time (the handover) should be tested first technical specifications listed on their nameplate. On occassion this intern authors conducted a final project in the form of case studies on the electrical checks on the three phase transformer with 13800 volts of primary voltage, secondary voltage of 34500 volts, and has a 14.7 MVA. After the repaired transformer needs to be done due diligence, process measurements taken include insulation resistance measurement, resistance measurement, measurement of the ratio, vector group testing, short circuit testing, and testing SFRA. Measurements were taken before the repair and after repair is completed. So that the results of these measurements can determine wheter or not a transformer is to be reused as the previous function. In the process of this measurement using the standard of Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA).
