Daftar Isi:
- Lactic acid is an organic acid that can be used in various industries, such as pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical, and textile. Lactic acid is monomer from poly-lactic acid (PLA), materials used for producing environmentally friendly biodegradable plastic. The aim of this study is to isolate Rhizopus oryzae from moldy fruits and determine its potency to produce lactic acid in boiled corn water medium as a study of bioconversion of waste. We also determine the effect of addition CaCO3, initially added into medium and intermittently added into medium, to the amount of lactic acid produced. Isolate JL35, JL22, and AL18 obtained from this study and identified as Rhizopus oryzae. Isolate JL22 used for producing lactic acid because it had the highest amount of acid production among the other isolate, proven by qualitative analysis. Addition of CaCO3 intermittently showed higher amount of lactic acid compared to addition of CaCO3 initially. Addition of CaCO3 initially showed the highest amount of lactic acid was about 4,73 g/L medium obtained at day 5 of fermentation time, therefore addition of CaCO3 intermittently showed the highest amount of lactic acid was about 7,16 g/L medium obtained at day 2 of fermentation time.
