  • Gadjah Mungkur reservoirs planned can live up to 100 years. However, the sedimentation caused reservoir age is not expected to be long. Damage of the watersheds which causes severe sedimentation of reservoirs is very high. There are 6 watersheds which has output in Gajah Mungkur, one of which was a Tirtomoyo watershed which has an area of 244 km 2 . Remote sensing can be used as a tool to identify changes in land cover and total suspended solids (TSS). Satellite imagery used in this study is a multitemporal satellite imagery, Landsat 5 TM recording 28 May 1994, 28 May 2000 and ALOS AVNIR-2 image recording 19 October 2009. Aim of this study is to determine the relationship between speed increase of total suspended solid (TSS) with land cover changes in Tirtomoyo watershed. Total suspended solid (TSS) were identified by spectral transformation Jingli using band 2 (green) and band 3 (red)and identification of changes in land cover using multispectral classification. Results of the analysis indicate that there are changes in land cover in the watershed Tirtomoyo in the period 1994, 2000 and 2009. The most significant change that occurs is natural vegetation land cover change into agricultural land and buildings. Land cover changes that occurred at that time, followed by increasing total suspended solid (TSS) at the mouth of the Tirtomoyo river. In addition to increasing total suspended solid (TSS) in the water reservoir, at that time there has been a change in the morphology of the Tirtomoyoâs river mouth. Change the form of increased land area around the mouth of the river as well as emergence of new sandbar. Based on the analysis of total suspended solids (TSS) at the Tirtomoyo river mouth and land cover change of Tirtomoyo watershed it is known that changes in land cover in the watershed affect the accretion total suspended solids (TSS) in estuary waters and accelerate the rate of sedimentation.
