- Unit commitment (UC) is one of the important problems in electrical power system. This UC problem is an optimization problem to get an effective and economic unit scheduling with satisfying constraints. In this research, load flow constraints is added and satisfied so that the system will become safer than before. Various methods from conventional to metaheuristic method are have been used to solve this UC problem. In this research, UC problem is divided into two parts, which are unit scheduling problem and economic dispatch problem. To solve this UC problem, the author use hybrid priority list and genetic algorithm method. Priority list method is used to solve unit scheduling problem whereas genetic algorithm is used to solve economic dispatch problem with considering load flow constraints. To optimize the genetic algorithm parameters, design of experiment method will be used. This method is tested on IEEE case 6 bus system and compared with UC result without load flow constraints. The obtained results prove that this hybrid method can be used to solve UC problem by considering load flow constraints with total cost $85,731.06 although the total cost is more expensive than UC without load flow constraints with total cost $83,230.47 but the system become safer than before. In percentage, total cost UC with load flow constraints is more expensive 3% compared with total cost UC without load flow constraints.
