  • Leadership style influences the development and output of an organization. One thing which is affected by the leadership style of a leader is employee engagement. Employees with engaged attitude is able to fully contribute in the organization either physical, emotional, or thought. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of transformational leadership on employee engagement in Panti Rapih Yogyakarta Hospital. The hypothesis is transformational leadership which has positive and significant effect on employee engagement. The tool used to assess the perception of transformational leadership style is Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) (Bass & Avolio, 1995). Transformational leadership has four dimensions: Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Individual Consideration, and Intellectual Stimulation. Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-17 (Uwes-17) was used to measure vigor, dedication, and absorption of employee engagement. Questionnaires are distributed to 58 nurses in Panti Rapih Yogyakarta Hospital selected based on structural position. The researcher analyzes 52 valid questionnaires. The study shows transformational leadership which demonstrates positive and significant effect on employee engagement. The additional analysis shows that individual consideration dimension and absorption of employees in Panti RapihYogyakarta Hospital must be considered further and improved
