- Canopy interception is recognized as a hydrological process of considerable importance in water resource management. The value of this interception is strongly influenced by climatic condition and vegetation. Forest utilization activity conducted by PT.Narkata Rimba has changed forest structure and affect the value of canopy interception in tropical rain forest especially in East Kalimantan. Changes in vegetation condition coupled with high rainfall make important to know the relationship between gross rainfall and canopy interception in logged-over area and seed stands area. This study was conducted to determine the difference in value interception in non-production area and production area. Value This research was conducted at two location (logged-over area and seed stands area) in the month of January to February 2013. interception (Ic) obtained from the reduction of gross rain (P) with a throughfall (Tf) and stemflow (Sf). The gross rainfall obtained from ARR while throughfall and stemflow obtained from direct measurement in research plots. The statistical analysis with SPSS 16.0 was conducted to obtain the relations gross rainfall and canopy interception. The results of this research shows that the value of canopy interception in the seed stands area is 32.29% of the total rainfall, while canopy interception in the logged-over area is 24.58% of the total rainfall. The relationship between the gross rainfall and canopy interception is directly proportional to the resulting equation is as follows : in seed stands area X Y 144 , 0 615 , 0 ï�« ï�1⁄2 value 0,88 with R 2 and in logged-over area X Y 162 , 0 201 , 0 ï�« ï�1⁄2 value 0 with R 2,973
